Richard P. Crumbaugh of Ashley, Michigan passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Jon Pohl will officiate with burial at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 and Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Richard was born February 6, 1933 in Bethany Township, Gratiot County, Michigan, the son of Harold and Margaret ( Wolfgang ) Crumbaugh. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1951 and attended Michigan State University and several Sales Training Seminars. He was married to Marilyn Stine on October 19, 1952 at the Edgewood Church of God. Richard spent two years as a Medic in the U.S. Army, 10th Infantry Division. After his discharge from the service, he bought a farm near Ashley where he remained until his death. He retired from Farm Bureau Services in Lansing as District Sales Manager. After retirement he worked for Rural Community Insurance Services as a Claims Adjuster. Richard was a 4-H Leader, served on the Board of Education, Ashley Community Schools from 1979-1983, past member of the Ashley Lions Club, and Alma Elks Club. He enjoyed woodworking and playing cards with the "boys". He also loved being a spectator at his grandchildrena�(TM)s sport activities. Dick and Marilyn traveled six hours in the fall and winter to watch their grandson play football and basketball in Ohio.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marilyn, 2 sons; Chris of Perrysburg, OH, Lynn and Diane of Merrill, daughter Lori & Patrick Harmon of Oakley, 6 grandchildren; Ryan, Carrie, Kayla, and Ross Crumbaugh, Lindsay and Troy Harmon, brothers: Delbert & Donna June Crumbaugh of Ashley, Jerry & Fern Crumbaugh of Foxfire Village, North Carolina, and sister Sue & Dennis Boyle of Derwood, Maryland.
Memorials may be made to Ashley United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
