Richard Holden

Richard Dale Holden, age 70, of Pompano Beach, FL formerly of Owosso recently moving back for family care, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church Owosso, MI on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM, Rev. Susan Kingsley will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday January 9, 2009 from 5-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery Elsie, MI.

Richard was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 26, 1938, the son of Floyd and Flossie (Albaugh) Holden. He received his associate's degree from Flint Junior College and resided most of his adult life in Florida. Richard served in the U.S. Navy on the Graham County LST based in Norfolk, VA. He worked in real estate appraisal & sales. Richard enjoyed old cars, Dolphin football games, Marlin baseball games, going to Butterfly World and walking along the beach. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Pomapano Beach, FL. His church family was very important to him as well as singing in the church choir.

He is survived by 2 sisters; Lois Carr of Owosso, MI, Dorothy Fitnich of Corunna, MI, niece Carol and Jim Zook of Mason, MI; step-daughter Katia Hauk of LaVergne, TN, step-son Kurt Hauk of LaVergne, TN, step-grandchildren K.J. and Deanna Hauk, ex-wife Carol Holden of LaVergne, TN, great-nephew Kerry and Sue LeRoy of Caledonia, MI, great-niece Heather and Rob Johnson of Ovid, MI, special friends; Janet Doten of Holt, MI and Janet Mizelle of Portsmouth, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
