Richard Hunter

Richard John Hunter age 63 of Owosso, MI went home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.

A Private Family Service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, MI. with Rev. Dave Russell officiating.

Richard was born in Owosso, Michigan on November 6, 1944, the son of Welton and Aida (Bingham) Hunter. Richard married Cathy Jo McCurry on December 9, 1995 at the First United Methodist Church, Owosso, MI. Richard lived in the Owosso area most of his life and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Owosso. As a child he enjoyed summers at Grand Lake in Alpena. Richard served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, stationed at Camn Rahn Bay, Vietnam. He earned a Bachelor's Degree of Science and Master's Degree of Arts from Michigan State University. He was a teacher at Chesaning Union Schools retiring in 1995. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and antiques.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Jo Hunter of Owosso, MI, son David Hunter of Hickory, NC, daughter Laura and Jim Scheffler of Owosso, MI, son Joshua and Kristen Redman of St. Johns, MI, daughter Sara and Jeff Hansen of St. Johns, MI, grandson Pierce Hansen of St. Johns, MI, and brother W.B. and JoAnn Hunter of Deerfield, IL. He was predeceased by his parents, and his sister Sue Ward.
