Richard J. Kent age 80 of Chesaning died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM., with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 and Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.

Richard was born in Owosso, Michigan on November 10, 1926 the son of George D. and Minnie R. ( Hemenway ) Kent. He resided most of his life in Owosso, Michigan and attended Owosso Schools. Richard was in the U.S. Army during WW II serving in Germany and the European & Pacific Theaters. He was a heavy equipment operator in the construction business. Richard was very passionate about hunting & fishing, he loved nature. He passionately played cribbage at home and at the donut shop with his friends. He traveled extensively, and was skilled working with tools and home improvement. Richard was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324.

He is survived by his very special companion Maxine Gallagher of Chesaning, MI, step-daughter Darlene Robinson of Kilgore, TX, step-son Darwin Robinson of Tennessee, special niece Patricia and Ray Salazar, 3 sisters; Christine Fairchild of Corunna, MI, Kathryn & John Rigling of New York, Carolyn and Leo Willoughby of Roseville, MI, and many many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by parents, wife Thelma Kent, seven brothers, six sisters, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
