Richard William Overla, Sr. age 67 of Breckenridge, MI died Monday, July 7, 2008 at his home
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Wednesday, July 9th at 11:00 A.M., Gary Lemert will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 5-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI.
Richard was born in Charlotte, Michigan on July 8, 1940, the son of Joseph and Mary (Wilson) Overla. He resided most of his life in Breckenridge, MI and attended St. Louis Schools. Richard married Bonnie Troyer on May 27, 1972 at the Nazarene Church in St. Louis, MI. He worked as a Mechanic at Yale Industrial Truck Eaton and Alan Town Lake Shore. He loved woodworking, hunting, and fishing. He really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Overla of Breckenridge, MI, 2 sons; Kevin and Kim Overla of St. Louis, MI, Rich and Kendra Overla of Alma, MI, 2 daughters; Cindy Koehler of Ithaca, MI, Penny and Al Cartwright of St. Louis, MI, grandchildren; Patricia, Brien, Rebecca, Zach, Jayce and Jenna, great grandchildren; Will and Aiden, 2 brothers; Robert and Terry Overla of North Carolina, brother Jim Overla of North Carolina, and sister Jolene and Joe Martinez of Weidman, MI. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph Overla and Mary & Vern Strayer, son Ricky Overla and 3 brothers.
