Richard Parmenter

Richard Leroy Parmenter age 91 of St. Johns, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.

Private Services will be held at a later date.

Richard was born in Shepardsville, MI on October 23, 1926, the son of Roy and Ethel (Reeb) Parmenter.  He was a graduate of Ovid High School and resided all of his life in St. Johns.

Richard loved sailboarding which he began in his 50's and continued into his 80's.  He also loved being on the farm and caring for his cows.  In his younger years he built silos with his father.  He worked in Auto Body at Egan Ford in St. Johns.  Richard enjoyed his trips to Horrock's in Lansing to get the best produce. Richard will always be remembered as a very loving family man.

He is survived by his daughter Laura and Randy Schmidt of St. Johns, MI; daughter Maureen Parmenter of Warren, MI; son Daniel and Patti Parmenter of Lansing, MI; son George and Patty Sills of Laingsburg, MI; daughter Genevieve Keener of St. Johns, MI; son Wayne Parmenter of St. Johns, MI; daughter-in-law Sandy Sills of Lansing, MI; daughter-in-law Jodi Parmenter of Ovid, MI; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Josephine, son James Sills, daughter Josephine Squibb, son Richard Parmenter II, granddaughter Tameshia Squibb; sister Hilda Graham, and brothers: George and Donald Parmenter.
