Richard Curtiss Patterson age 79 of Fairfield Glade, Tenn. passed away July 29, 2005.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel. A Luncheon will follow at the Community Center.
Richard was born June 9, 1926 in Shepherd, Michigan the son of Clare L. and Roselle K. Curtiss Patterson. He was retired as owner of Shults Equipment Sales and Service and was a US Navy veteran having served during WWII and Korea. He was also a member of United Methodist Church in Ithaca, a lifelong member of the Elks, a member of the VFW and the Grady Group. He had many hobbies which included playing golf, cards, and collecting old coins. He will always be remembered for his unique and wonderful sense of humor and the interesting and funny stories he loved to tell.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Phyllis Patterson of Fairfield Glade, sons; Michael Patterson and wife Nancy of Traverse City, MI and Daniel Murray and wife Coral of Schaumburg, MI, daughters; Patricia Sherman and husband Kevin of Lake Orion, MI, Pamela Kirby and husband Tom of Atlanta, GA, Molly Murray of Grand Rapids, MI and Julie Hawksworth and husband Geoff of London, England, sister Judith Carnago and husband John of Kalamazoo, MI, grandchildren; Devin and Justin Paterson, Holly and Richard Sherman, Jennifer Patterson, Jason Dubios, Jacqueline Kirby, B. Justin Mitchell, Sophia Hawksworth, and Matthew and Michael Murray, great grandchildren; Sophie Mitchell, Luke and John Mitchell and Kiersten Wiglom, and cousins; Patrick Moran, Mary Gannon Ford, and Shari Scheibling all of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
