Richard Thompson

Richard Lee "Dick" Thompson age 78, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at Edgewood Church of God, Ithaca, MI on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Dave Perry officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.

Richard was born in Alma, MI on October 25, 1939, the son of Kenneth Ira and Thurza L. (Richards) Thompson. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1957. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Dick married Merna Hoard on April 23, 1960 at Edgewood Church of God, Ithaca, MI.

Dick was a lifelong farmer. He owned and operated Ar-Dic Freightways Trucking Company for many years. He also spent time driving for WDS Trucking. Dick enjoyed working on race cars on the weekend and racing at Crystal Racetrack. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and family vacations. He was a lifelong member of Edgewood Church of God, Ithaca, MI, where he also performed in men's quartets.

He is survived by his wife Merna Thompson of Ithaca, MI; daughters:  Patty and Gary Armstrong of Orlando, FL; Wendy and Brian Brecht of Naples, FL; Debbie and Doug Thompson of Lansing, MI; grandchildren: Logan Armstrong, Brycen Rivera, Ben (Stacy) Brecht, Kyle Brecht, Connor Thompson, and Nick Thompson; great granddaughter Lucy Brecht and another great granddaughter due in November. He is also survived by his brother Michael and Beverly Thompson of Ithaca, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
