Ricky Ithyl Brush, 52 of Ovid, MI passed away at his home, Sunday, May 25, 2014.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Herb Wheelock officiating. Burial will take place at Duplain Township Cemetery St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. and on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Rick was born November 22, 1961, in Grayling, Michigan, the son of Rod and Erma Brush. After graduating from St. Johns High School, Rick moved to Higgins Lake where he enjoyed the northern MI life style. He worked for AJD Forest Products for several years and also served as a volunteer fire fighter for Beaver Creek fire department. He then moved to Elsie MI after meeting his wife Diane (Baese) Brush. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, including; hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and canoeing or kayaking. Rick and Diane built their northern get-away home together and loved spending time up there around the campfire, either just the two of them or surrounded by many great friends and family.
Rick was a very caring and loving son, husband, father and friend. He was always willing to help out when called upon. He loved spoiling his wife Diane.
Rick was currently employed with MMPA in Ovid, a job he really enjoyed. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; (Ithyl & Elaine Brush-Maynard) (Herman & Mary Miller). Rick is survived by his wife Diane, his father (Rod & Lyla Brush) and his mother (Erma & Bill Canute), his son Devon Brush, four step-children, many grandchildren, three sisters (Elaine Brush, Marshel Brush, Deb & Ed Parkinson), many nieces and nephews, three step-brothers, and one step-sister.
