Rita Cannon

Rita May Cannon, age 70, of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, Michigan on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be on Friday 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Chaplain Bill Gooch will officiate and burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, Michigan.

Rita was born in Owosso, Michigan on July 26, 1940, the daughter of Richard Henry and Marie Ella (Moore) Jones. She resided in Owosso since 1985. Prior to that Rita lived in Ovid and 5 years on Blue Gill Island.

Rita worked at several manufacturing businesses over the years including American Record, Federal Mogul and Lear Corporation. She also worked as a housekeeper for George and Lois Hoddy. Rita was a member of the Eastern Star. She was an advocate of the Humane Society. Rita loved spending time at Blue Gill Island and attending her granddaughter's sporting events. She will be remembered for her caring heart.

She is survived by her son Jeff and Traci Cannon of Laingsburg, MI; granddaughter Morgan Cannon of Laingsburg, MI; 3 sisters Ruth Coffman of Oregon; Retha and Richard Bancroft of Ovid, MI; Diana Crandall of Eagle, MI; 3 brothers Jim Jones of Ovid, MI; Dan Jones of Ovid, MI; Jerry Jones of Harrison, MI; several nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend Jim Williams of Owosso, Michigan. Rita was preceded in death by her parents.
