Rita Hoover

Rita Ann Hoover age 56, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 1:00 - 5:00 P.M. Following the Visitation there will be a Memorial Party held at the UAW Hall in St. Johns where an Irish Dinner will be served.  Burial will take place at South Bingham Cemetery at a later date.

Rita was born in St. Johns, MI on May 21, 1961 the daughter of Charles and Sharon (Baker) Hoover. She graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1979.

Rita has been employed with Kroger in St. Johns since 2001, she loved her co-workers there, who eventually became like family to her. She also spent many years babysitting for children in the area. Rita was a very active member of the Mint City Singers Choir Group and was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Johns. Rita was a musician and enjoyed playing the guitar, mandolin and banjo. She liked reading, Jackie Chan movies, and attending the Renaissance Festival.  Rita was a wonderful mother and looked forward to every moment spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by twin sons: Andy and Lurah Flansburg of Ovid, MI, Danny Flansburg of St. Johns, MI, mother Sharon Hoover of Dewitt, MI, grandchildren: Aiden and Addison Flansburg, brother Al and Beth Hoover of Fowler, MI, family friends: Cris and Frank Golupski and Kathy Tolonen. She was preceded in death by her father, and sister Tina.
