Robert Olson

Robert Carl Olson age 73 of Ithaca, Michigan died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at St. Marya�(TM)s Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Stephen Young will officiate and burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be on Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Robert was born in Emerson Township, Michigan on June 2, 1933 the son of Clark & Lucille ( Fisher ) Olson. He was a lifelong resident of the Ithaca area and graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1953. On August 31, 1956 he married Sally Ray in Angola, Indiana. He retired from General Motors in 1993. He was an avid hunter, a practical jokester, golfer, cribbage player, and enjoyed gambling. He was a surrogate father & grandfather to many. Robert was a member of the UAW Local #652, a charter member of Pheasants Forever & Whitetails Forever.
Survivors include his wife Sally Olson of Ithaca, Michigan, 1 daughter, Kimberly Olson & fiancAC.e Robert Emerick of Traverse City, Michigan, 1 son, Kirk Olson & fiancAC.e Jennifer Thomas of Ithaca, Michigan, 1 granddaughter, Katelyn Olson of Palo, Michigan, an adopted daughter & grandson, Susan & Justin Pung of Alma, Michigan, 2 sisters, Lorene Warba of Harrison, Michigan, Madeline & Bud Wood of Alma, Michigan and many nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his Parents, Sister Marjorie Soule & brothers in law, Chuck Soule, Julius Warba, nephew Clifford Soule. Memorials may be made to Ithaca Fire & Rescue Department in his memory.
