Robert Michael "Rob" Rutter

     Robert Michael "Rob" Rutter, age 71, of Mecosta, MI, formerly of St. Johns, MI, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, at Spectrum Health Systems- Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids, MI.

     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.

     Robert was born in Carson City, Michigan on May 28, 1950, the son of Richard and Esther Jean (Roberts) Rutter. He graduated from St. Johns High School. Rob married Lori Goodwin on December 11, 1980.

     Rob did maintenance and upkeep for many rental properties in Lansing. He enjoyed fishing, working and coffee with his buddies. Rob also enjoyed trips to Famous Taco with his family and friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and was a proud grandpa. Rob proudly served his country in the United States Navy. 

    He is survived by his wife Lori Rutter, children: Tammy and Troy O'Weller, Ann and Don Freels, Sarah and Dan McQueen, Scott Rutter, Christina and Andy Bain, and Joshua Rutter. He is also survived by grandchildren: Landon, Emelia, Elysse, Natasha, and Nathan, and many other grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
