Robert Fay Shaw, 76, of Breckenridge, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Alma, MI after a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 1:00 PM at St. Louis Holiness Church with Rev. Scott Thrasher officiating, burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, Michigan. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis.
He was born October 9, 1936, in rural Ithaca, to O.F. and Leona (Ringle) Shaw. He married Nina Wolfgang in Breckenridge, on April 20, 1957. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2005. He married Rita Sprauer on October 7, 2006.
Mr. Shaw was a lifelong resident of Gratiot County. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1955. Robert was a farmer and a truck driver. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, and going to auction sales. He visited all 50 states and covered millions of miles in a truck. He was a member of the St. Louis Holiness Church for 57 years, were he led the singing and served on the church board.
Surviving are his wife, Rita of Breckenridge, three children, Marsha and Calvin Hartman of Morrison, Tennessee, Samuel and Michelle Shaw of Alma, Michigan, and Melinda Shaw of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Christina Marchant, Ryan Hartman, Elizabeth Shaw, and Megan Shaw; and one great grandchild, Talon Marchant; two brothers, Carl Shaw of Ithaca, Michigan and Glenn Shaw of Lansing, Michigan; one sister, Gaytha Tuttle of Ashley, Michigan; also a host of friends, relatives and church family. Also surviving are Rita's children, Sheila and Bill Smith, Marilyn and Ken Lenker, Mark and Sharon Sprauer, Dee and Butch Wetzel, Wanda and Kerry Viehdorfer, and Samuel Sprauer; 12 step grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nina, an infant daughter, Esther, and brothers Orville and Marvin.
