Robert Sparling

Robert Owen 'Bob' Sparling, age 67, of St. Louis, MI passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Louis United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 11:00 A.M, with Pastor Terri Bentley officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI.

Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 18, 1947, the son of Verl and Aimee (Hereford) Sparling. He graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1965. Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Bob married Judith Ann Ryan on December 28, 1968.  Bob had worked at Total Petroleum and Cabot Corporations for several years; he retired in June 2010. After retirement Bob did carpentry work. He enjoyed biking, boating, fishing and working in his yard.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Judy Sparling of St. Louis, MI, son Bret and Tracie Sparling of Rockford, MI, 2 daughters; Dana and Heath Plaxton of Williamston, MI, Rachel and Ryan Jones of Stockbridge, MI, 6  grandchildren; Alison, Caden, Avery, Brock, Paige, and Maggie, sister Jacklyn and Robert Howard of Churchville, VA, brother Alan  Sparling of Clarkston, MI and sister Cindy Lee of Charleston, SC. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
