Robert E. Stover, age 87, of St. Louis, Michigan passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Masonic Pathways, Alma Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Ron Fredrick officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Jasper Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Robert was born in Snowhill, Arkansas on September 26, 1926, the son of Wilbur and Ora (Jackson) Stover. Robert married Phyllis E. Breidinger on February 15, 1947; she preceded him in death on August 12, 2008. Robert married Bonnie L. (Parks) Brown on May 23, 2009. He retired from Dow Chemical in March of 1977. He was a professional deer processor and professional bass player. Robert served his country in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Robert liked hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He also loved to cook and he adopted any animal that came to the door.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Stover of St. Louis, MI, 2 sons; Timothy Brown of Jackson, MI, Michael and Jane Brown of Oak Island, NC, son-in-law Alva Kelley of Ithaca, MI, 2 stepsons; Rick and Paige Brown of Oak Island, NC, James and Pat Brown of Elkhart, IN, stepdaughter Lori Bigelow of Shepherd, MI, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Harry and Bea Stover of Breckenridge, MI, Richard and MaryAnn Stover of Phoenix, AZ, and sister-in-law Bethel Stover of Breckenridge, MI. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Phyllis, 2 sons; Robert Ray Stover and Larry Michael Stover, daughter Karen Kelley, granddaughter Lynn Earick, brother Walter Stover and 4 sisters; Geneva, Marge, Milly and Evelyn.
