Rodger B. Hathaway, age 80, of Owosso, MI passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. A private family burial will take place at McCollum Lake Cemetery, Comins, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday May 7, 2011 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.

Rodger was born in New York City, New York on December 26, 1930, the son of Francis and Blanche (Volz) Hathaway. He resided most of his life in Owosso, Vernon and Curran, MI. Rodger married Catherine Rhoades on September 14, 1963 in Flint, MI. She passed away on May 25, 2005.

Rodger worked at the GM Buick Motor Division in Flint for 33 years, retiring in 1989. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Rodger enjoyed hunting fishing and working on cars. He was a true animal lover, with lots of pets over the years.

He is survived by his son Rodger and Katherine Hathaway of Durand, MI, son David and Heather Hathaway of Owosso, MI, daughter Julie Hathaway of Durand, MI, grandchildren; Weslee Smith, Madelyn Hathaway, Harley Smith, Nathaniel Hathaway, Bowen Hathaway and Bryan Hathaway, and sister Mary Ivey. Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, wife Catherine and sister Norene.
