Roger Oberlitner

Roger Peck Oberlitner, age 69, of Ithaca, Michigan went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 9, 2014 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Mr. Dan Dinsmore officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 4 - 8 P.M.

Roger was born in Alma, Michigan on September 29, 1944, the son of Florian Michael and Lillie Viola (Rawson) Oberlitner. Roger graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1962.

On October 18, 1963 he married Connie Six in North Star, Michigan. Roger owned and operated Roger Oberlitner Well Drilling and Repair from 1968 to 2008. He was a third generation well driller. He attended Pompeii United Methodist Church. Roger enjoyed taking care of the wildlife, and fishing and hunting at his cabin in the UP. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Roger was a father and grandfather figure to many people, he always said "I don't know how to love small and I look for the best in everyone".

He is survived by his wife Connie Oberlitner of Ithaca, MI, 4 daughters; Holly and Shane Barrett of Williamsburg, MI, Heidi Oberlitner-Sheets of Ithaca, MI, Heather and Shad Teegardin of Ithaca, MI, Honey Oberlitner of Alma, MI, Gerrit Powell who was like a son to Roger, 9 grandchildren; Jacob, Chelsea, Nick, Forrest, Journey, Lauren, Zoee, Sydney, Pheonix, 1 great grandson Finnegan, his brother Michael and Cheryl Oberlitner, sister -in-law Bonnita & Lawrence Smith, and nieces & nephews Joel, Alex, and Emily. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 grandchild Jasmine, 1 sister, 3 brothers, and niece Micah.
