Ronald James Cuthbert, age 91, passed away on August 6, 2014. He was born on Sept. 30, 1922, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the son of Daniel and Anna (Swan) Cuthbert. Ronald retired from General Motors after 34 years of service, and continued to farm full time. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of UAW #652. Ronald served in the US Army during WWII and was awarded 3 Bronze Stars and the Meritorious Unit award. He married Rita Catherine Faivor on July 26, 1952 and she survives him.
Also surviving are their children, Ron G. (Bonnie) Cuthbert of Ithaca, Don Cuthbert of Lansing, Jack (Jean) Cuthbert of St. Johns, Dick (Debbie) Cuthbert of St. Johns, Patrick James (Sandy) Cuthbert of Elsie, Mark (Chris) Cuthbert of Farmington Hills and Jeff Cuthbert of St. Johns, 10 grandchildren, Angie (Bob) Moon, Amy (Chris) Western, Matthew, Derek (Erin), Daniel (Maria), Justin, Chris, Sonya, Adam (Becky) and Cheryl Cuthbert; 9 great grandchildren, Jacob, Cain, Dana, Taylor, Chloe, Camren, Karrigan, Madisyn and Peyton. Also his Siberian husky, Koda and many nieces and nephews. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Rose McNab, Hannah Cameron, Irma Prescott-Stuber, Barbara Frost, Shirley McComb and infant brother, Leo Cuthbert.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, with burial to follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Fr. Ken McDonald presiding. The family will receive friends at Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Military Services will be provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Educational Trust Fund in memory of Ronald. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
