Ronald Edward "Ron" Rondy, age 70, of Ithaca, MI passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church "Irishtown", Shepherd, MI on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Fred Kawka officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery "Irishtown" Shepherd, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 3-8 P.M. with family present from 3-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI.
Ron was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 29, 1942, the son of Edward J. and Sally (Hanlon) Rondy. Ron married Linda Lou Coughlin on May 25, 1963 in Irishtown, Michigan.
Ron was a Quarter Master at Carson City Correctional Facility for 17 years, retiring in 2005. He was a former truck driver and Owner in his family business, Central State Distributing, in Mt. Pleasant. He worked for Motor Wheel Corporation in Lansing for 10 years. Ron operated and owned his own salvage/resale business for several years. Ron was a member of the Moose Lodge in St. Louis. He enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting, and collecting guns. He enjoyed spending time in his barn/mancave. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. Ron was fun-loving, always smiling, and truly enjoyed a good laugh.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Ithaca, MI, his children; Bridget Rondy of Ithaca, MI, Ronald Rondy of Ithaca, MI, Cynthia (David) Sepulveda of Vail, AZ, Philip (Jennifer) Rondy of Ithaca, MI, his grandchildren; Patric Sepulveda, Adelyn Sepulveda, Finnegan Rondy, Emerson Rondy, Gibson Rondy, siblings; Lindy (Don) Hover of Lansing, MI, Gary (Maureen) Rondy of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and Gayleen (Mark) Kastner of Eaton Rapids, MI. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, parents in law, and a niece Tracey Rondy.
