Ronald Eugene Salladay, age 78, of St. Louis, MI died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Dr. Keith J. Wise officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Ronald was born in Wetzel County, West Virginia on December 10, 1935, the son of Lewis and Geraldine (Johnston) Salladay. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1954. Ron was a lifelong resident of St. Louis, and retired from Dow Chemical in 1995. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, boating, sports of all kinds, and watching western movies; especially John Wayne. He enjoyed going out to eat, and spending time with his family was important. Ron was a past member of the Gratiot County Sheriff Posse, and a member of the Alma Elks Lodge. He was also a member of St. Louis Church of Christ.

Ron is survived by his son Ronald L. and Carol Salladay of St. Louis, MI, daughter Cindy Salladay of Wheeler, MI, daughter Linda and Alfred "Bud" Walters of St. Johns, MI, son Josh and Carrie Salladay of St. Louis, MI, 8 grandchildren; Steve and Dana Salladay, Eric and Katie Salladay, Adam and Nikki Salladay, Jerry and Stacy Walters, Kari Walters, Jake Walters, Macie Salladay, and Hunter Salladay. 5 great grandchildren; Jackie Salladay, Ava Salladay, Braden Salladay, Kamryn Salladay, and Jace Walters, ex-wife Nancy Bomers of St. Louis, MI, special cousin Mindy and Peter Martinez of St. Louis, MI, and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Mom Beckett, Aunt Peg and Uncle Bake Baker, Aunt Micky and Uncle Bernie Kime, infant grandson Michael Murgittroyd, and sister Lorraine Todd.
