Ronald S. Schneider passed away on October 21, 2012, at the age of 60. Born on September 2, 1952, in St. Johns, Michigan, he was the son of Donald and Alice (Schafer) Schneider and they survive him. Ron was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of St. Johns and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also the former president of the St. Johns youth baseball, Chapter Director for the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, a Red Cross volunteer, and a proud Vietnam veteran with the Navy Reserves. Ron retired from G.M., was an avid fisherman, bus driver for the St. Johns Public Schools and was an organ donor. Ron married Eileen Thelen on September 15, 1973, in St. Johns and she survives him.
He is also survived by three sons, Ken (Candi) Schneider, Mike (Kari) Schneider, Kurt (Wendy) Schneider, daughter, Kim (David) Hunt, grandchildren, Connor, Colin, Michael, Jordan, Tyler, Blake, Easton, Avery and Kaelyn Schneider. Ron is also survived by his sisters, Joanne (Chuck) Miller of Fowler, Joyce (Mike) Bond of Everett, WA, Patty (Kurt) Koenigsknecht of St. Johns, brothers, Leon (Stef) Schneider of Fowler, Jim (Sue) of Eagle, MI, Gary (Luanne) of Fowler, Mark (Marilyn) of Pewamo, Joe (Ann) of McKinney, TX, Bob Schneider of Portland, MI, Mike (Dawn) of Mt. Pleasant, and Terry (Carrie) of St. Johns. Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Schneider.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns with Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, MI 48879. Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in Ron's honor to the American Red Cross, or Sparrow Foundation for the Neurosciences.
