Ronald Gene Smejkal

     Ronald Gene Smejkal, age 78, of Sumner, MI, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Medilodge of Clare, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, with Kelly Iseman officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral. Burial and Military Honors will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1:00 P.M., at New Haven Twp. Cemetery, New Haven Twp., MI.
     Ron was born in Alma, Michigan on October 6, 1946, the son of George and Edna (Kleen) Smejkal. He graduated from Fulton High School. Ron married Anna Jean (Fishburn) Smejkal on June 10, 2017, at Hubscher Park, Sumner, MI. Ron retired from Oldsmobile in Lansing; he worked there from 1965 - 1997. He enjoyed playing cards, dice, watching westerns and sports. Ron liked tinkering and doing body work on cars. Ron was very social and he liked being active. He loved cooking and baking for his family. Ron proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic.
     He is survived by his wife Anna Smejkal; siblings: George and Dorothy Smejkal, Judy Kane, Bob and Louise Antes, step-children Cyrena and Randy Christensen, Retha Martinez, Edward and Cheri Ramirez, and Michael Ramirez; children: Rebecca Graham and Stephen Smejkal. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his extended family of the Fulton Food with Friends. He was preceded in death by parents and siblings.
