Rose Valista Day, age 90, of Elsie, MI died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Ovid Healthcare Center.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, Michigan on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Kathy Leydorf will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from 2-8 p.m. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel.

Rose was born in Gary, Indiana on March 17, 1918, the daughter John F. and Rosalie (Hananck) Kadera. She resided most of her life in the Elsie area, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge. Rose was the former owner and operator of the Marshall Motor Lodge, in Marshall, Michigan. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing golf, and she enjoyed her cats.

She is survived by 1 son Gerald and Ruth Zatocil of Waterford, MI, son in law Carl Peck of Elsie, MI, sister Annie Smalec of Elsie, MI, 4 grandsons, and 5 step granddaughters. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 daughters; Rose & Marveen, 1 granddaughter, Cynthia Rose, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.
