Roy Clingenpeel, of St. Louis, MI, was born on March 9, 1924 and went to be with his Lord on September 13, 2012. Roy passed away at his home with his wife, Betty, by his side, as she has been for the sixty-six years of marriage.
Roy was born in Grand Blanc, MI and live most of his life in Gratiot County. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1942. Roy successfully ran a farm in Wheeler Township for over twenty years. He also worked at Lobdel-Emery Corp. and New Moon Trailer Company in Alma and for Morley Brothers in Saginaw before retiring to Florida. He and Betty later moved back to Michigan to be closer to family.
Roy was preceded in death by his father William and his mother Gertrude, granddaughter Becky Thompson, his brothers; William Jr. and Lloyd, and his sister Dorothy Sitts. He is survived by son Donald and Kay Clingenpeel of Breckenridge, MI, daughter Beverly and Mike Thompson of Ithaca, MI, grandchildren; Kurt Clingenpeel, Dawn Clingenpeel, Eric (Alyssa) Clingenpeel, Tracy (Kevin) Somers, and Jill (Brian) Pickrell and great-grandchildren; Spencer Braydon, Jacob, Addison, Garrett, and Morgan, and his brother Dale and Agnes Clingenpeel of Breckenridge, MI.
Roy was very active in the Edgewood Church of God, Ithaca, MI and the First Church of God in Bradenton, FL, serving on many boards and committees. He enjoyed woodworking, camping with friends and family, traveling, and visiting with friends and relatives. Roy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service was held at the Edgewood Church of God, 160 S. Barry Rd., Ithaca, MI at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 15, 2012 with Pastor Dave Perry officiating.
