Roy Joe Smith, age 73, of Brant, Michigan died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, Michigan on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor John James will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Roy was born in Lakefield Township, Michigan on April 13, 1939, the son of John Glen and Lena Evera (Tester) Smith. On March 4, 1972 he married Nancy Good at Racy Free Methodist Church, they have been married 41 years. He resided most of his life in Chapin Township, Michigan.

Roy retired from Peet Packing in Chesaning, Michigan in 1986 after 13 years of service. He was the owner & operator of Lacker Well Drilling, Brant, Michigan. Roy enjoyed fishing and hunting and feeding his birds. Spending time with his grandchildren was very important to him. He also enjoyed playing euchre with his family.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Smith of Brant, MI, 3 daughters; Lori and Fredrick Smith of Bannister, MI, Lynne and Andrew Hall of Brant, MI, Rebecca Gutierrez of Brant, MI, 2 sons; Joe and Peggy Smith of Brant, MI, John and Dianne Smith of Ashley, MI, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Vivian Somers of Elsie, MI, and many nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his parents, 4 sisters, and 1 brother.
