Ruth McFarland, age 90, of Edmore, MI passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at The Laurels of Carson City, Carson City, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Ruth was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 15, 1925, the daughter of James Lewis and Madeline (VanAllen) Roth. She graduated from East Detroit High School. Ruth married Ralph William Emil McFarland on June 14, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan.
Ruth worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Detroit for many years. She then went to work for the Advertiser Newspaper. Ruth was a homemaker, a volunteer for the Red Cross, very active in the Edmore Senior Center and an avid bowler. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and needle work. Ruth was very active in her daughters' lives while they were in school. She loved attending her grandsons wrestling matches and football games. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Edmore, MI.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Darlene and Rick Rockafellow of Six Lakes, MI, Deborah Dault of Chicago, IL, grandchildren; Bret and Jennifer Beardslee of Olympia, WA, Brian and Cindy Beardslee of Chesapeake, VA, Alison Dault of Kalamazoo, MI, Emily Dault of Chicago, IL, 3 great grandsons; James Beardslee of Olympia, WA, Kenneth Prince of Chesapeake, VA, Kevin Prince of Chesapeake, VA, great granddaughter Kayla Beardslee of Chesapeake, VA, sister Jean and William Morgan of Sun Lakes, AZ and great nephew Christopher Clark of Oklahoma City, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, and niece Toby Clark.
