Ruth Elizabeth Monroe age 91 of St. Louis, MI passed away April 25, 2008 at Schnepp's Healthcare Center, St. Louis, MI.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Louis Church of Christ, St. Louis, MI. Mr. Keith Wise will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
Ruth was born on August 23, 1916 in Ottawa County, Michigan, to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Edge) Irish. She married Robert Monroe on November 30, 1943 in Sparta, Michigan.
Ruth graduated from Sparta High School in 1932. Her life's focus has always been helping others. After her marriage to Bob (Robert), Ruth's life was dedicated to her home and raising her seven children. Ruth was an active member of the St. Louis Church of Christ throughout her life. In their retirement, she and her husband were involved with the St. Louis Senior Center and delivered meals to area residents for several years. Ruth loved playing games, especially Dominos and Skipbo, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Ruth will lovingly be remembered by her children, David & Frances (Walters) Monroe of Canton, MI, John and Cora (Fedewa) Monroe of Beaverton, MI, Dorothy & Brad Capen of Breckenridge, MI, Raymond & Cindy (Huntoon) Monroe of Breckenridge, MI, Mark and Vickey (Carmack) Monroe of Louisville, KY, and James and Vicki (Kanine) Monroe of St. Louis, MI. Also surviving are 2 sisters-in-law; Gertrude Irish and Roselyn Morrison, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert in 2002, one son Thomas in 1953, three brothers; Stanley, Gerald, and Harvey Irish, and two sisters; Eleanor and Lois Irish.
