Ruth Richardson

Ruth Mae Richardson, age 83, of Ovid, MI, formerly of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 1:30 PM. Pastor Herb Wheelock will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Road Cemetery, Brady Twp. MI. Visitation will be held on Friday June 25, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.

Ruth was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 1, 1927, the daughter of Archie "Lester" Carl and Edith "Evelyn" (Runyan) Curtis. Ruth resided most of her life in the Owosso area, attended country school in Chapin, MI and graduating from Elsie High School.

Before moving to Ovid Healthcare Ruth lived at Kona Villa Apartments for several years. Ruth was employed by Universal Electric and worked as a waitress at several Owosso restaurants which she enjoyed. Ruth was a member of the VFW Post #9455 Auxiliary over 50 years and served as Commander and Secretary.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Lois M. Morel of Ovid, MI, son Dale Thornton of Colorado, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister Rosalie Fisher of Wayne, MI, 3 nephews; James Bliesner of Chesaning, MI, Charles Fisher of Ypsilanti, MI, Eric Fisher of Wayne, MI, niece Laura Valentine of Belleville, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Doris Payne and a sister Barbara Bliesner of Chesaning, MI.
