Ruth Ann Sloat

      Ruth Ann “Aunt Ruth Ann” Sloat, age 84, of Ovid, MI, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.

      Ruth Ann was born in St. Johns, MI on March 4, 1940, the daughter of Forest and Marguerite (Wisner) Sloat and lived in the Ovid area her entire life.  Ruth Ann was a homemaker and in her early years she enjoyed gardening, canning, and crocheting, sewing, embroidery and needle point. She also volunteered at the Ovid Public Library. In recent years, she enjoyed bird watching, reading, putting jigsaw puzzles together, and doing Sudoku, and crossword puzzles.

      Her family was the highlight of her life; from babysitting to driving them around, celebrating milestones with them and the joyous family gatherings. She loved it when the little tykes from next door would come to visit so she could give them chocolate chip cookies.

      She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Leslie and Debra Sloat of Ovid, MI; nieces Christine (Matthew) Kondel of Corunna, MI and Terri Sloat of Williamston, MI; great-nephews Jordan Sloat of Ovid, MI; Hunter Peterson of Bar Harbor, ME; and Colt Kondel of Corunna MI; and great-great nephew Luka Peterson of Bar Harbor, ME; extended family and dear friends: Arlene Kaptrosky, Rita Burnham and Barb Kondel. She was preceded in death by her parents.

      In following Ruth Ann’s wishes, burial has taken place and no services will be held.
