Ruth Smalldon

Ruth Smalldon of St. Johns passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004 with her family at her bedside. She was born September 8, 1904 in Ovid, MI., the daughter of Sarah Agnes (Buck) and George Edward Smith. Ruth married John (Jack) Smalldon on November the 25th 1922 and he preceded her in death August 27, 1979. Surviving are her sons and daughters in law, Jack and Joan Smalldon and Harold and Janet Smalldon of St. Johns. Grandchildren, Karen (John) Paski, John (Karen) Burgess, Debbie Burgess, David Smalldon, Tammy Smalldon, Kathy (Chris) Fairchild, Kristine (Bill) Rickman, and William (Jill) Smalldon; nineteen Great Grandchildren, 8 Great Great Grandchildren, 2 sisters and 1 brother. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son Harry Edward, daughter and son in law Fern and Wayne Burgess, grandson Michael Burgess, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Ruth was a caring and gentle soul who saw the best in what life had to offer her. She had the spirit of an angel and a smile for everyone who crossed her path. Ruth was hard working, a creative person with a keen sense of humor whatever her circumstances might be. Family was important to her and each of us will miss her. Goodbye Mom/Grandma and God speed. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. from Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Visitation will be Friday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Rev. Jeff Heinsoth will officiate and burial will take place in Middlebury Township Cemetery in Ovid. Memorials can be made to Hazel Findley Country Manor in St. Johns, Michigan.
