Ruth Lorraine Tugen age 84 of Ithaca died April 16, 2008 at Ashley Care Center, Ashley, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Phil Maxwell will officiate with burial at Ithaca Cemetery Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, from 2-8 p.m. with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.,
Ruth was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 25, 1923, the daughter of Fredrick and Lena (Kolberg) Dershinski. She resided the last 62 years in Ithaca and graduated from Chadsey High School in Detroit, Michigan . Ruth married George Tugen, July 3, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Tugen passed away May 19, 1982. Ruth had worked at Wolverine Worldwide and Ken's Tavern. She loved sewing, cooking, making towels, and was a good jelly, caramel corn and cake maker. But above all, she was a wonderful grandma. Ruth was a member of Ithaca Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Moose Lodge #1566 and past officer of Women of the Moose Lodge and Alma VFW Ladies Auxiliary..
She is survived by Children: Dennis & Judy Tugen of Williamston, MI; Dora & Jim Gillmer of Portland, MI, Dona & Rodney Hoyt of Ithaca; George & Karen Tugen of Dorr, MI, 17 grandchildren, 30 great gradnchildren, 1 great great grandchild, Several Nieces & Nephews. She is predeceased by parents, husband, two sister, one brother, and four great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Ashley Care Center or the Ithaca Senior Center. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
