Sally Atkins

Sally Kay Atkins age 81 of Ovid, MI, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Melanie Young officiating.  Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Friday, July 6, 2018 from 12:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sally was born in Owosso, MI on March 7, 1937, the daughter of Paul and Hattie (Palmer) Stinson.  She was a graduate of Owosso High School and resided most of her life in Ovid.

Sally loved her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee and visiting at the kitchen table.  Sally will be remembered as being a good cook.  In her younger years she rode motorcycles with her husband Ron Atkins.  Sally opened 4 businesses in Ovid over the years all called Kut & Kurl.  She also owned Marauders Cove in Ovid in the 70's.  She was a member of United Church of Ovid.

Sally is survived by her son Paul Grinnell and Denise Frye of Ovid, MI; daughter Paullett and Ron VanLake of Bannister, MI; daughter Penny Grinnell of Ovid, MI; sister Pauline and Robert Hebeler Jr. and their children: Robin, Janice and Mike of Shepardsville, MI; her first husband Richard Grinnell of Ovid, MI; 11 grandchildren: KC, Scott, Krystal, Tom, Jamie, Rikel, Krystle, Roberto, Ashley, Megan, and Brooke; 17 great-grandchildren; and her lifelong friend Marti.  Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her son John Grinnell, and her second husband Keo C. Salters Jr.
