Samuel Bertrand Miller, III, age 82, of St. Louis, MI died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis, MI.

Cremation has taken place. Private internment will take place in The Pennington Garden of The First Presbyterian Church in Alma, MI at a future date.

Samuel was born in Irwin, Pennsylvania on August 2, 1928, the son of Samuel B. and Mary W. "Billie" (Widmeyer) Miller. Sam married Lois A. (Clinebell) Miller on October 27, 1950 at the First Presbyterian Church in Irwin, PA. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2005. Sam was a retired Realty Specialist with the U.S. Department of Interior, Middle Atlantic Region in Philadelphia, PA. He was an avid football fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and gardener. He enjoyed sharing his tomatoes with his friends. He was a member of Alma First Presbyterian Church, and the Alma Masonic Lodge #244.

He is survived by his son Samuel B. and Carol Miller IV of St. Louis, MI, son Pastor Jeffry L. and Vicky Miller of Saint Anthony, KS, daughter Terry L. and Tad Bailey of St. Louis, MI, grandchildren; Brian and Pam Miller of Saginaw, MI, Sara Beth and Alex Trevino of Alma, MI, Beth A. Bailey of St. Louis, MI, Benjamin and Tori Bailey of USCG, Samantha Miller-Gott and Andrew of Hest Bank, England, Wesley and Kendra Jo Miller of Wichita, KS, great grandchildren; David Wayne Goodwin, Nicholas and Lucas Miller, and Maria and Victoria Trevino. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, and his parents, Dr. Samuel B. Miller and Mary W. (Billie) Miller of Irwin, PA.
