Samuel Winters Roth age 89 of Owosso, Michigan died February 23, 2008 at at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at First Free United Methodist Church Owosso, MI on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Burton Kincaid and Pastor Mark Kincaid will officiate with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday from 2-8 P.M. with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, Michigan.
Samuel was born in Owosso, Michigan on January 18, 1919 the son of Nathan and Gladys (Geasler) Roth. He resided most of his life in in the Owosso area and he graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1936. Michigan State University and Northwest Nazarene College in Idaho. Samuel married Ruth E. Kight on June 26, 1949 in Owosso, Michigan. He owned and operated the Inspiration House Christian Bookstore in Owosso. He worked on the City of Owosso Charter, for three years he was a Goodwill Counselor for Goodwill in Flint. Sam enjoyed doing crafts and tending to his flowers. Samuel was a member of First Free United Methodist Church. He was the church historian and librarian, he also taught Sunday school, served on all the Church boards. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by Wife: Ruth Roth of Owosso, MI, Son: Bruce & Patricia Roth of Lansing, MI, Son, Donald & Kristine Roth of Owosso, Grandson Brian & Laura Roth of Owosso, Granddaughter, Katherine & Chad VanDerKolk of Hudsonville, great-granddaughter, Caroline Roth. He was predeceased by his parents and brother; Robert Roth.
Memorials may be made to First Free United Methodist Church Mission Group. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, Michigan
