Sarah "Joan" Watson, age 94, of Corunna, MI passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, Corunna, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. David R. Strobe officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday June 24, 2011 from 6-8 PM with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary Service at 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Joan was born in Andrew, South Carolina on October 26, 1916, the daughter of Hugh and Sarah Jane (Johnson) Green. Joan resided most of her life in Corunna. Joan married Thomas W. Watson on February 6, 1941. He passed away on September 30, 1978.
Joan worked at Johnson Control of Owosso. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. Joan just enjoyed the farm life, gardening and raising animals. Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life. She was a member of the Corunna First Baptist Church and active in the Corunna VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Joan is survived by her son Thomas A. and Linda Watson of Owosso, MI, daughter Shirley and Jim Spencer of Cadillac, MI, 15 grandchildren; Jimmy, Bradley, Mary, Tommy, Darla, Darcy, Danny, Lori, Larry, David, Robert, Kathy, Janet, Kevin, Shawn, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons; Robert Watson & Richard Green, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
