Shirley Hofferbert

Shirley Ann Hofferbert age 76, of Bannister, MI, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10:00 A.M., with Mr. Thomas Bradley officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Shirley was born in St. Johns, MI on December 6, 1940, the daughter of Joseph and Beulah (Bovee) Skaryd.  She graduated from Ashley High School.  Shirley married Bruce Hofferbert on June 20, 1959 in Bannister, MI.

Shirley was co-owner of Hofferbert Sales which is an Ag Dealership that was started in 1958. She was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge. She was very proud of her grandchildren and she felt very fortunate to see her first great grandchild Jackson.

She is survived by her son Bruce Jr. and Shawne Hofferbert of Elsie, MI, daughter Kathy and Kevin Young of Elsie, MI, grandchildren; Nathan and Rachel Hofferbert and Natalie Hofferbert (James Raab III), great grandson Jackson Hofferbert, 2 brothers; Douglas and Toni Skaryd of Bannister, MI, and James and Joyce Skaryd of Perrinton, MI.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Lillian Luckhart.
