Shirley Elaine Lukas, age 80, of Owosso, MI passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., Rev. Cal Emerson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 29, 2009 from 2-8 PM and Monday, March 30, 2009 from 10 AM-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel.
Shirley was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 5, 1928, the daughter of Merle D. and Flora M. (Seth) Love. She was a 1947 graduate of Ovid High School and resided most of her adult life in Owosso. Shirley married Edward Lukas on June 25, 1949 in Ovid, MI. Shirley worked for Ford Motor Company Auto Lite for 14 years and was a member of UAW Local #754, retiring in 1964. Family was a very important part of her life. She loved to play cards. Shirley was an active member of the Owosso Township Fire Department Women's Auxilary and one of the founding officers of the WBC Federal Credit Union of Owosso. She attended Northgate Wesleyan Church, Owosso, MI.
She is survived by her husband Edward Lukas of Owosso, MI, 4 daughters; Suzanne and Gary Noble of Ovid, MI, Cindy and John Dwyer of Ovid, MI, Marie and Clint Long of Corunna, MI, Karla and Phillip Whitmer of Owosso, MI, son Glen Lukas of Ovid, MI, 14 grandchildren, 11 1/2 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law; Alice Love of Laingsburg, MI and Elsie Bowerman of Ovid, Edward's siblings; Frank Lukas of Ovid, Helen Mlynek of Owosso and Ann Griswald of Ionia. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, special friends; Doris Hine, Peg Apsey, Margaret Chrenka, Joan Watson, Nancy Davis, Marion Coleman and Debbie Ray, also her best pal, her dog Lily. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Jamie Noble-Watson, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
