Shirley Smith

Shirley Ann Smith age 80 of Alma, MI, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Carson City Hospital, Carson City, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., with Dr. Keith Wise officiating.  Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery Ithaca, MI.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Shirley was born in Porter Township, MI on September 12, 1936, the daughter of Adolph and Fannie Mae (Glazier) Shelley.  She graduated from Freeland High School. On April 13, 1957 Shirley married Robert L. Smith in Wheeler, MI; Robert died on June 1, 2011.  Shirley retired from Schnepp's Nursing Home in St. Louis, MI. She enjoyed watching Detroit Tigers Baseball and playing bingo. She also enjoyed crocheting. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed it when they came to her home.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Debra and Orville Cody of Alma, MI, Donna Smith of Alma, MI, Robin and Kevin Gibson of Crystal, MI, 2 sons; Robert Smith Jr. of Alma, MI, Philip Smith of Clare, MI, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and 2 brothers; Gene and June Shelley of St. Louis, MI, and Don Shelley of Texas.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband Robert, and brother Ivan Shelley.
