Sophie Marie Bupp, age 91, of Alma, MI died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma, MI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Cathlolic Church in Ithaca, MI on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery in Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel. Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Friday at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.

Sophie was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 21, 1919, the daughter of Paul Anthony and Joanna Sophia (Kovaleck) Vojtas. She was a lifelong resident of Ithaca. She cleaned several houses, St. Paul's Catholic Church and St. Martens Catholic Church in Perrinton for many years. Sophie loved babysitting her great grandkids, painting, and working on her farm. Her greatest hobby was sewing and she had embroidered hundreds of baby quilts that were sold worldwide. She was also a Rosie the Riveter. She was a member of St. Paul's Cathlolic Church, Ithaca, MI.

She is survived by her 2 daughters; Geraldine Sura of Clawson, MI, Beverly and Terry Childs of Shepherd, MI, son Gary and Marilyn Bupp of Alma, MI, 4 grandchildren; Jennifer, Andrea, Matthew, and Lindsay, 3 great grandchildren; Bronson, Jessie, and Broghan, sister Julie Denman of Alma, MI, brother George and Katherine Vojtas of Alma, MI, and sister in law Virginia Vojtas of Alma, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, great granddaughter Kaleigh Bupp, 4 sisters, and 4 brothers.
