Stanley Bator Jr

Stanley Bator, Jr. age 90, of Ionia, Michigan formerly of Ithaca and Eaton Rapids, Michigan died Friday, April 6th, 2012 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel on Wednesday, April 11th at 11:00 A.M. , Rev. Jon Clifton will officiate. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca chapel.

Stanley was born in Michigan on December 19, 1921, the son of Stanley J. and Gladys (Glinke) Bator. On August 23, 1947 Stan married Helen Ilene Mouser in Ithaca, Michigan. Helen predeceased him on December 29, 2010. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in WW II. Stan and Helen resided most of their life in Ithaca, Michigan moving to Eaton Rapids in 1966. He was a retired welder from Oldsmobile in Lansing, Michigan. Stan enjoyed farming, woodworking, hunting, fishing. He and Helen traveled to many places and were members of the Airstream Club from the early 1960s. In his later years Stan would bake pies for many friends and members of his family. Last year he was awarded the Grand Champion 1st place for his Strawberry Rhubarb Pie at the Ionia Free Fair. He was a former Masonic Lodge Member.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Susan and Warren Thompson of Ionia, MI; Lori and Blake Vaughan of Lansing, MI; his grandchildren, Angela and Matthew Stover, Kristin Thompson, Jared Thompson, Jennifer McQuaid, Stephanie and Buck Snyder. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, 2 sisters, June & Arlene
