Stanley Joseph Fox, 87, of Fowler, passed away January 22, 2012 at Sparrow St. Lawrence Hospice Center, after a 4 month fight with cancer. Stanley was born January 20, 1925 in Pewamo, Michigan. He was the son of Joseph and Ida (Spitzley) Fox. He graduated from Pewamo High School in 1943. After his graduation he entered military service with the Marines. He was stationed in San Diego, California and several posts in the South Pacific, including Hawaii.
On June 29, 1948, he married Theresa E. Koenigsknecht in Fowler, MI. Stanley worked for General Motors subsidiary for a time, then he went into dairy farming. He farmed for many years until his retirement in 1981. After retirement he and Theresa moved into town and Stanley took up woodworking. He became very good at making furniture and small decorative pieces which he generously gave to his family. He also enjoyed attending Fowler High School football and basketball games and doted on all of his grandchildren.
Stanley is survived by his wife Theresa, his daughters, Ruth Ann (Gordon) Thelen, Janet Dorn, Donna (Alan) Yoder, Margaret Fox (Dave Kenyon), his sons, Steven (Lindsay) Fox, John Fox (Robert Miller), his brothers, Carl (Carol) Fox, Sylester (Virginia) Fox, Richard (Cheryl) Fox, Ambrose (Cathy) Fox, Mark Fox, his sister Delores (Roy) Kramer, his 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and wife, William and Jarene Fox, his sister, Elizabeth and husband Herman Schnieder, son-in-law, Richard Dorn and brother-in-law, Donald Maidlow.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Fowler, with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. Burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends, 7 - 9 p.m., Wednesday, and 2 – 4p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., Thursday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler. Rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 3 p.m. on Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to Sparrow St. Lawrence Hospice Center.
