On January 16, 2015, Sergeant Stanley Stambersky saluted the American flag within his heart for the last time.
Stanley was born in Ashley, MI on November 28, 1920, the son of Frances Vanecek. His early years were spent helping his family maintain the farm and household. In 1942, Stanley was drafted into World War II, as a Sergeant in General Patton's 3rd Army. Stanley was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart, as well as many other honorable medals because of his service during WWII. Stanley was very proud to be a American, and waved a American flag from his walker that flew daily for the greatest country he knew.
After WWII, Stanley met Florence Kroll, and married on September 14, 1946. Florence and Stanley raised their family in Elsie, MI, and spent their golden years traveling between Michigan and Florida.
He is survived by his children, Ronald (Toni) Stambersky of Novi, Connie Stambersky of Walled Lake, and Rick (Susan) Stambersky of Camillus, NY, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, his sister; Mary Hilborn, and several nieces and nephews. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 9 brothers, and grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie MI.
