Stella Wenzlick

Stella Irene Wenzlick (Babe), 89, of rural Saint Johns, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2017.

Stella was born in Clinton County, Watertown Township, Michigan on September 10, 1927. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Sophia Swalec of Wacousta, Michigan, and her loving husband, Richard G. Wenzlick.  Dick and Stella were married on September 2, 1950; they were married 66 years.

Stella is survived by her nine (9) children; Timothy of Elsie, Linda (Kenneth) Hatch of Alpena, Mary (Brett) Claxton of Cape Coral, FL, Nancy (Richard) Santel of Trenton, IL, Diann (Gordon) Hunsaker of DeWitt, Carolyn (Kenneth) Wreggelsworth of DeWitt, Donald (Vicki) Wenzlick of Mulliken, James Wenzlick of St Johns, and Rebecca (Michael) Hayes of DeWitt. She was blessed with 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Her spiritual faith guided her throughout her life.  She graduated from St Mary Catholic High School in 1947 and has since loyally remained in contact with her classmates. Stella devoted several years to 4-H leadership and youth development and also enjoyed volunteering as classroom room-mother for her children.  Her sense of humor and good nature was enjoyed by all. She loved music, enjoyed putting puzzles together, playing board games, card games, word puzzles, and reading. In addition to family gatherings, special memories for Stella included seeing John Denver in concert and seeing Pope Saint John Paul, II in person.  Stella was not only a mom to her nine children; she was a mom to all their friends, to her nieces and nephews, and neighbors.  Her arms and home were always open.  When you entered her home, you became part of her FAMILY.  She will be dearly missed.

The family of Stella Wenzlick wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Prestige Pines Senior Living and Sparrow Home Hospice for the compassionate care Stella received during her final days.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St Jude Catholic Church in DeWitt on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with a luncheon following.  Visitation will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. with a Rosary prayed at 7:00 P.M. at St. Jude Catholic Church, and from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. prior to the Mass on Tuesday morning.  Interment service will be held at Wacousta Cemetery, Clinton County, MI.
