Stephen "Steve" Chvojka, age 92, of Breckenridge, MI died Friday, November 11, 2011 at Hearts Content, Breckenridge, Michigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Jules Spleet officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery Breckenridge, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 3-8 P.M. and on Sunday November 13, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel. Rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Steve was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on November 5, 1919, the son of Frank and Anastzya (Knijvle) Chvojka. On November 29, 1947 he married Genevieve L. Luznak in Bannister, Michigan. Genevieve predeceased him on August 13, 2004. Steve farmed most of his life and worked for Oldsmobile in Lansing, Michigan retiring in 1983. He enjoyed playing cards and going to the Breckenridge Senior Center. He resided most of his life in Breckenridge, Michigan and was a member of Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, Michigan.
He is survived by 2 sons; Stephen and Penny Chvojka Jr. of Breckenridge, MI, Jerry and Lori Chvojka of Breckenridge, MI, 3 granddaughters; Jenny and Jim Garchow, Becky and Jamie Wiklanski, Jodi and Chris Thum, 4 grandsons; Scott Chvojka, Seth and Randi (Chvojka) Foster, Chris and Sophia Dunsmore, Mike and Nancy Bateman, 13 great grandchildren; Ethan, Alex, Kevin, Hailee, Kaydee, Drake, Kylie, Preston, Nolan, Matthew, Steven, Joon Allen, Jaedon, sister Helen Juricak, and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, grandson Steven Chvojka, 5 sisters & 7 brothers.
