Steven Bruce Mayer

     Steven Bruce Mayer, age 82, of Ashley, MI, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the Laurels of Fulton, Perrinton, MI.

     A Memorial Service will be held at East Washington United Brethren Church, Ashley, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 17, 2023, with Pastor Jeff Reser officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI, at a later date.

     Steven was born in Remus, Michigan on December 14, 1940, the son of William Joseph and Beatrice Augusta (Freidel) Mayer. He graduated from Remus High School. Steve proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for Fisher Body/General Motors.

     On September 30, 2006, Steven married Mary Garver Sheets at East Washington United Brethren Church. They have been married for seventeen years.

     Steve's faith was very important to him. He was a member of East Washington United Brethren Church. He loved his church family, reading his Bible and praying with others. He enjoyed sports; watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and Pistons. Steve liked singing with his radio. He did not enjoy lawn work, but was proud when it was finished. He was quite the baker and was known for creating many strange recipes.

     Steve is survived by his wife Mary, three step-children: Joel Sheets, Jill (Brad) Gross, and Janine (Tim) Palmer; six grandchildren: Brandon, Jared, Nick, Jon, Lauren, and Sydney; four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings: William Mayer, Gary Mayer, Joseph Mayer, Eldon Mayer, Paul Mayer, Marjorie Orr, and Jeannine Hopkins; and an infant step-granddaughter Jasmine Sheets.
