A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Owosso, MI on Wednesday, October 8th at 10 A.M. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 5-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, Michigan,
Susanna was born in Beaufort, North Carolina on September 15, 1924, the daughter of David Vernon and Mary (Merrill) Nelson. She resided in Shiawassee County since 1953 moving here from Battle Creek, Michigan. She married Carl B. Smith in Portland, Michigan in 1947, Carl died March 31, 1963. Susanna was a secretary for St. Paul's School and Corunna Intermediate School District retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and love opera & shopping. Susanna traveled extensively in Europe also.
She is survived by 1 daughter Jeannine and Patrick Mattock of Stow on the Wold, England; 3 sons David Smith of Shorewood, Wisconsin, Randall Smith of Owosso, Michigan, Gregory Smith of Perry, Michigan, 3 grandchildren Aimee, David Jr. & Nicky, 2 brothers Joseph Nelson of Southern Pines, North Carolina, David V. and Rhonda Nelson of Wilmington, North Carolina. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Carl & grandson Daniel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
