Sylvia Lucile "Sybie" Loomis

      Sylvia Lucile "Sybie" Loomis, age 77, of Alma, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Corewell Health Beaumont University Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan.
     Funeral Services will be held at Parkside Assembly of God, 302 Pine Avenue, Alma, MI, at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 2, 2025, with Pastor Ryan Tice officiating. Private family burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
     Sylvia was born in Alma, Michigan on August 9, 1947, the daughter of Francis Alvin and Alice Elizabeth (DeRosia) Lott. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the Class of 1965. On December 1, 1968, Sylvia married Darell Duane Loomis in Honolulu, Hawaii. They were blessed with thirty-three years of marriage prior to his passing on May 1, 2002.
     Sylvia's favorite pass-time was to spend time with friends and family. She was a very caring person and never knew a stranger. She was a well-known regular at Soaring Eagle Casino BINGO. She loved music, dancing, and game shows. She was an Elvis fan and loved her visit to Graceland. Sybie participated in the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk for many years. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed passing her skills on to her family.
     Sylvia was caregiver at heart. She owned and operated Loomis AFC for 28 years. She also did home health care for Gratiot Community Hospital for 10 years. Most of all, she loved caring for the children of her loved ones. She was an active member of the St. Louis VFW Women's Auxiliary for many years.
      She is survived by her daughter Kim Loomis of Alma, MI; son Mark (Kristy) Loomis of Alma, MI; four grandchildren: Keely (Marcos) Mendez, Kerry Loomis, Cameron Stiffler, and Izabelle Stiffler; six great-grandchildren: Paulina, Ezekiel, Gabriel, Ezra, Esmeralda, and Eliseo; siblings: Jerry (Nancy) Lott, Robert (Carol) Lott, Frances (Dennis) Springstead; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Darell, siblings: David Lott, Patricia Lott, Michael Lott, and Roxanne Lott.
