Tara Peters

Tara Lynn Peters, age 38, of Ithaca, MI passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at Sparrow Clinton Hospital, St. Johns, MI.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Ithaca Church of God Ithaca, MI on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Tom Whitesel and Pastor James Conn officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI. Those attending the services are welcome to wear bright colors, if you choose.

Tara was born in Alma, Michigan on June 12, 1976, the daughter of Ron and Betty (Lewis) Peters. She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1994 with honors. She attended Alma College for two years and worked as a library aide on campus.

Tara faced many challenges and adversities in her life, having been the recipient of two double lung transplants. She has been touched by many lives, and her life touched others. Tara lived her life with dignity.

Tara was a U of M Wolverines Football Fan. She enjoyed playing softball, painting pictures and jig saw puzzles. Tara liked cooking and mastered the art of pie baking. Tara liked trips to Charlevoix and watching Lake Michigan sunsets. She loved to read and study the bible. Tara loved spending time with her dogs.

She is survived by her parents Ron and Betty Peters of Ithaca, MI; brother Derek and wife Dominique Peters of Shepherd, MI and niece Kennedy Kaylee. She is also survived by many special family members. Tara was preceded in death by her grandparents.
