Thelma Emily Carroll age 91, a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother & loyal friend of St. Louis, Michigan, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Schnepp Healthcare Center in St. Louis, Michigan. Funeral services will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel, St. Louis, Michigan on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 11:00 A. M. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 26, 2007 from 6-8 P. M. and Friday, July 27, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Pastor Richard McLane will officiate and burial will take place at Chapel Gardens, Elwell, Michigan.
Thelma was born in Port Huron, Michigan on July 19, 1916 the daughter of Jesse and Emily (Hines) McConnell. She had resided most of her life in Gratiot County. Thelma and Otto E. Carroll were married in Johansburg, Michigan. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1993. She loved crocheting, knitting and caring for children and was a member of Parkside Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her 7 daughters, Eilene (Ken) Buehler of Dacula, GA, Karen Rockafellow of Lowell, MI, Marietta Carroll of Escanaba, MI, Gloria (Bruce) Stevens of St. Louis, MI, Pamela (Paul) Blevins of Yspilanti, MI, Collette (Brian) Oele of Newaygo, MI, Diana (Keith)Kushion of Alma, MI, 3 sons, Russell Carroll of Corbin, KY, Dennis (Jane) Carroll of Ashley, MI, Ric (Kelly) Carroll of Pickens, MS, 1 brother, Bruce (Hazel) McConnell of Alma, MI, 1 sister, Virginia (Don) Freed of Alma, MI, 58 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren also many, many nieces & nephews. She was preceded home by her husband, Otto, sons, Jerry & Larry, sisters, Violet, Leila & Lena, brothers, Raymond, Russell, Eugene & Kenneth also her parents, Jessie & Emily McConnell.
